14A – Halfway Reflection

1)    I have kept up with all the assignments by putting everything in all of my calendars. I first write each assignment in my planner and then reminders in my google calendar and the weekly calendar on my wall.
2)    I felt like giving up when I got a bad grade for one of my writing assignments for my writing class. I felt as if I did not deserve that grade because I worked really hard on that essay. I pulled through by talking to my professor on what I can improve and what I did great on. I do feel like I have developed a tenacious attitude because I feel like I have a better grip on my classes and schedule this semester.
3)
1)    Make sure to have reminders and a planner to get all your assignments in on time.
2)    Look at each assignment with a new attitude and outlook then you did on the last.
3)    Actually go back to the comments that other students put on your posts so you can get tips and advice that can help you later in the course.

13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

Grinding it out: The making of McDonald's by Ray Kroc
1)
·       What surprised you the most?
    • He worked for a paper cup company for most of his life before even thinking about franchising a restaurant.
·       What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?
    • He was already reaching retirement age before he even met the McDonald’s brothers. He didn’t care if he was too old to start something new, he pushed passed the judgment and created something incredible.
·       What about the entrepreneur did you least admire?
    • He gave 60% of his sales of the Multimixer even though the paper cup company did not deserve it. He should have fought the company to which they didn’t even want to sell Multimixers until Kroc left the company.
·       Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so, what did they do about it?
    • Kroc faced adversity when he gave 60% of the Multimixer profits to the paper cup company. He had to live on less than 40% of the profits and had to grind it out to make it where he is today. He pushed through and found an opportunity with the McDonald’s brothers.
2) He showed and practiced techniques to manage his stress when overwhelmed with the company and the franchise that he created. It was always expanding so he was always focused and never stressed about an issue that would occur.
3) I’m not exactly sure how he ended up getting the French fry recipe down with all the other locations. He had always had the exact recipe but for some reason, there was an issue with execution. I’m not sure how the issue occurred if they had the recipe and the brothers to help the whole time.
4) If you had the chance to go back and change one thing in your life that was business-related, would you and why? I would ask him this to see if he would try and fight the paper cup company for the 60% of the profit that they took away from him.
5) I think his opinion of hard work is persevering through hard and stressful times. Not looking at the bad but working for the good in the future. I do share this opinion because you have to work for everything in life. Not everything will be handed to you.

12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

I have picked the segment for people who live in bigger or smaller cities.
In my interviews, I have found that in smaller cities all around the US, they are less likely to have learned a second language. They are also less likely to have grown up with different languages around them. When interviewing people who grew up in bigger cities like Orlando, Miami, or Tampa, they said that at the least they are familiar with another language other than English. If not familiar, they said they grew up with a second language or was taught it by either their family or in school. Especially for students who grew up in Miami, where Spanish is a very popular language.
Based on my interviews, I have found that catering my product more to smaller cities can benefit kids as they are more secluded from a melting pot of languages. It also taught me that even with bigger cities, I can still market my product to them. Even though they have a greater advantage of having different languages around them, they can still have the opportunity to learn different languages or more about the prominent languages around them.
